Female Infertility- Causes & Diagnosis

Infertility affects approximately one out of every 6 couples. If the cause of infertility resides in the   female, then it is termed as female infertility. Female infertility accounts nearly one-third of all the   infertility cases. Most people generally have a strong and deep desire to conceive a child at some point   in their life but the couples need to understand what fertility really means instead of blaming each other. Female infertility treatment is very common in many top hospitals in India where couples are given a   chance to have a baby.

 Causes Of Female Infertility

 1.Ovulation Disorders

Normal ovulation or release of a mature egg is necessary for a woman to conceive naturally. There are many disorders which affect the ability of a woman to conceive and these are called ovulation disorders. Some of them are Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), ovarian insufficiency, hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, and others. Ovulation problems can be caused by hormone imbalance, cysts, eating disorders like anorexia, TDA abuse, over-weight, stress, and many mother issues.

 2.Blockage Of Fallopian Tubes

Sexually transmitted infections like chlamydia, gonorrhea, and others can result in women having blocked fallopian tubes. Tubal occlusion is one of the reasons for infertility in women as in this condition, an ovulated egg cannot reach the sperm in the endometrial cavity. IVF might be the solution if both the tubes are blocked but if the tubes are filled with fluid, then minimal surgeries can be done.

 3.Endometrial Polyps

Endometrial polyps are finger-like projections in the uterine cavity. This abnormality is rarely associated with cancer but it can reduce the chances of fertility by 50%. Removing these polyps by common surgeries called hysteroscopy can solve the infertility problem. You can undergo endometrios is   treatment in India which include many therapies to increase the chances of pregnancy.

 4.Uterine Fibroids

The common presence of mere uterine fibroids does not cause infertility in females. Submucosal fibroids can sometimes cause heavy periods or bleeding in between periods. These can be removed by surgery to double the pregnancy rate in females.

Diagnosis

Thorough physical examination is required to assess the potential female infertility. This includes the medical history of the patient regarding some important factors which contribute to infertility in her.

A urine or blood test is very common to check infections and hormone problems including the function of the thyroid gland.

Pelvic test and breast test are also done depending on the patient’s medical history.

It is important to make sure if ovulation is happening. So, a sample of cervical mucus and tissue is examined to check for the process of ovulation.

Considering the organs is also necessary, so, a laparoscope is inserted into the abdomen area to check the condition of the organs and to look for any blockages, adhesions, or scarred tissues.

Ultrasound, Hysteroscopy, HSG X-ray, and Sonohystogram are other diagnostic procedures to confirm female infertility.
